Homework influences not only our daily routine but also the way we are feeling: physically and mentally. Based on the Stanford University study, over half of the students name homework as the number one source of nerves and stress in college. Too many assignments lead to insomnia, exhaustion, constant headaches and weight loss.

According to the information gathered by Open Colleges and presented in their article The Tyranny of Homework: 20 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Assign Homework Over The Holidays, many kids don’t get enough exercise. All students, and especially the youngest ones, should use their evenings and holiday time to do more physical activities, playing outdoors and participating in sports with friends.

Homework activities relate what is learned in school to children's lives outside of school and helps to connect school learning to the real world. But I believe these daily homework assignments should be varied and meaningful, not always rote practice work.
